FOOD STYLIST blog

After watching the short video today,

Here it is, but I will play it on the screen-

TAKE A SIDE on this argument and explain your rationale:

Do you think this type of photography IS HONEST or DISHONEST?

2-3 sentences, please :)

I feel like this kind of photo is very misleading because it uses a burger that took a while to make unlike a mcdonalds burger. And you can see everything on the sandwich unlike the other one. Tyler O

I think that it's very dishonest, however people in there heads may are hoping for that but, they also know that they the consumers are not going to get that. It's like food modeling in my head. -Liv R

I think this type of photography is honest in what's in the burger. However, I think that it is dishonest in the sense that you're not getting exactly what you see in the photo however I think you need to go into knowing it will not be perfect like the photo.

I think that this was the same burger, just prepared longer and made look fancier for a picture rather than a minute to be eaten. I think this type of photography is honest because it's the same burger, just the details and ingredients are highlighted and photographed.

I think it was honest. Both burgers had the same ingredients, you just couldn't see them in the photo.

This type of photography is dishonest. That's because they spent way more time making the burger for the photoshoot and manipulated and photoshopped it in many ways. Even if they used the same ingredients, that burger looked nothing like what you buy at McDonald's.

It might be dishonest, but if people were to see a picture of a McDonalds burger the way it really looks, it would not make people want to come in and try it.

I think that it's very dishonest because the process that they go through when taking pictures takes hours to make it look appetizing. Whereas at McDonald's, they don't take that much time and it can look very different. Cody K.

I don't think this is honest because they are doing so much to make it look appealing. it's like food make-up; everyone knows it is fake tho. Ben.O

I think its kinda dishonest because it makes you have some expectatives and what you think you are paying for and then when they give it to you is not as you expected and it gives you the feeling that you've been tricked.

I think it's dishonest because it doesn't look like the way they would normally make it at McDonalds. Also the sizes are different so someone might order it thinking it was bigger but ends up being smaller and sad-looking.

I think that this type of advertising is dishonest because if someone wants to buy something they should get what they paid for, not some idle rendition of it. If you are going to sell something, you might as well sell something terrible and be honest about it than sell something great that is really terrible. Savannah R-B

I think that it is dishonest. Showing the food as something that's perfect is far from reality. When they bring the food up to the front it makes you think it is full of stuff, and doing photo editing makes it even further from reality.

I don't think its honest. I don't think its right because It looks good but doesn't give us the exact thing its showing to us. It also makes us wanna eat more even tho we can survive without food for days.

i think this type of photography is kind of honest. they didnt do much to change it either than edit some things out which are not even that noticeable. the only big difference was the size but as the lady in the video said its only because of the box they put it in. lizeth v.r

It is honest, it just makes it look better for the person eating it. In the photo burger it shows what is on the burger so you can see what is on it. The photography is honest but the product just don't look the same. Kekoa.L

I see both sides. I think its dishonest because they set up each ingredient perfectly and retouch the photo with photo shop, but it is also honest in the since that they use the same ingredients both in the photo and in the restaurants. mia m

I feel like it is dishonest but I understand why it needs to happen. I feel like although its dishonest, for me personally I know thats all that stuff is there. I don't care what it looks like Im just gonna eat.

I think its dishonest but i get why they do it. Either way people are most likely to eat it. -Skylar H

It is dishonest no question but everyone knows that so whether you buy it or not is up to you because you already know its not gonna look like it dose in an ad.-Avery B

I think that it is still honest because of how they set it up. nothing is fake and its all still real they just kinda enhance the photo to make it look better. So then when people see the advertisement they will think it looks good and people will wanna buy it.

I think this is honest. It's not like they are using different ingredients or anything. The only real different is in the burger you get you cant see what's in it unless you take it apart and the other one is just perfectly assembled to where you can see everything that comes in the burger. -Edson J

I think that photos are generally honest, however in this video it shows how they can manipulate an object to appear more pleasing. The burger is going to have the same ingredients as the one you buy it's just not going to look the same. Charles B
